Fatima

31. A village near Bethlehem. Packing, the next generation.

Her story

“I learned it by watching. Now I write it down.”

Fatima is the youngest of the four. She grew up carrying baskets for her grandmother and now keeps the family's recipes in a notebook so they will not be lost.

She fills and ties every TeTas pouch by hand, wraps every bar of soap, presses the wax seal, and writes the card that goes inside.

She has no pouch of her own yet. The three on the shelf pass through her hands first, and she says that is enough for now.

Family

Granddaughter of a za'atar picker. Mother of a four-year-old who already knows which leaves to leave on the plant.

Her village

Southern highlands

Limestone houses, a spring, grapevines on the terraces, and a view of the hills folding south.
